Traditional industries such as fishing, forestry, shipping and mining are still important, but over the years have been complemented with new activity within oil production, oil transport and oil refining. There is strong demand for Norwegian expertise in marine science, industrial engineering and information technology and Norway is still a key player in the shipping industry.
