Unit 1: Traditional Norwegian Cooking

Unit 3: Collecting Norwegian & North American Stamps

Part 1:  Starting a General Collection

General Guidelines for Level 1:

1.      Collect a minimum of 300 different stamps from the countries of Norway, Canada, and the United States.

2.      Create a dictionary of terms that are unique to the hobby of stamp collecting.

3.      Select a category (i.e., commemorative, airmail, postage-due stamps, etc.) and collect at least 25 such stamps from each country – Norway, Canada, and the United States.  Make Xerox copies of the album pages containing the 75 stamps and attach the copies to your Final Report.

4.      Select a special topic (i.e., animals, sports, presidents/royal family, etc.) and collect at least 10 such stamps from each country – Norway, Canada, and the United States.  Make Xerox copies of the album pages containing the 30 or more stamps and attach the copies to your Final Report.

5.      Complete an Optional Activity as described in the Unit 3 documentation.

6.      Complete the Final Report Form

7.      Complete the Feedback Questionnaire Form.

8.      Send all required documentation to Sons of Norway International Headquarters, Minneapolis.

 

Part 2: Specializing Your Stamp Collection

·         Customize your stamp collection into a five-year period for one country or one-year periods for the USA, Canada, and Norway.

·         Select and complete optional activity

Part 3: Completing a Collection of a 10 Year Period

·         Choose one country and select a 10-year period and collect all the stamps, which were issued during that period.

·         Learn about the history of Norwegian folk arts and write a short report on what you learned about Rosemaling.
