If you can throw a stick, you can play this game. This is a meeting your kids and grandkids will like. The diagram below shows 1-6 players but you can form teams so lots of people get to play. You can also arrange the "Kubbs" along the long side to make the distance shorter for players who can't throw as far as they would like. Some groups create "teams" of people so everyone gets a chance to play.

PLEASE NOTE:
THIS IS NOT OUR REGULAR 4TH SUNDAY OF THE MONTH MEETING.
WE ARE JOINING CLENG PEERSON LODGE FOR THEIR
MEETING ON JULY 17.LOCATION: Norway Community Building (a red pole building), Norway, Illinois, 9 miles north of Interstate 80 and Ottawa, Illinois on highway 71.

PROGRAM: The program for the day is on the Viking Ship.
MUSEUM TOUR:
After the meeting, Cleng Peerson will give our members a tour of the Norway Museum which is close to the Community building and just east of the gas station.
The museum is the oldest Norwegian Lutheran Church in North America. It was built in the oldest permanent Norwegian settlement in North America, founded in 1825 by pioneer Cleng Peerson and the “Sloopers”.
DRIVERS/RIDERS: We will travel in private cars and may also rent a van as well.
ARE YOU WILLING TO DRIVE AND TAKE OTHERS WITH YOU?
DO YOU NEED A RIDE THAT DAY?
We need volunteers who can drive and take others with them.
We need to know who needs a ride that day.
We will attempt to match up drivers and riders for the day.
Please call Paul Abrahamsen at 847-359-5231 and let him know if you are willing to drive and how many people you can take with you. Please call Paul if you need a ride. We will coordinate drivers and riders as we get closer to July 17.
Norway, Illinois is about 2 hours from Palatine and cars would have to leave by approximately 11AM.

PROGRAM: Dr. Ralph Haug - "The New Foundation Board"
With a background in Governance, Dr. Haug was selected to be a member of the Sons of Norway Foundation Board. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Foundation from a knowledgeable member.
Today's program will discuss the new Sons of Norway Foundation board, why it was created, and what the goals are for the near future and distant future. In addition, we will have an update on the status of donations to the foundation and projects that the foundation has currently underway. At the conclusion of his presentation Dr. Haug will be glad to answer questions regarding the Foundation.
Dr. Haug has held leadership positions in the Norwegian National League of Chicago, Norwood Crossing, Torske Klub, Skjold Building Society and Skjold Lodge.
Previously we have had a separate “Foundation Night” with a banquet at a restaurant. To make the event more affordable and the time more accessible to a greater number of members, we are eliminating the separate banquet and changing our October meeting to a “Foundation Meeting” with a pot luck meal. Please bring a dish for others to share.
