31st Annual Scandinavian Day—Vasa Park.  Sunday, September 12th, 2010 9:00 A.M.  to  5:00 P.M. ADMISSION: DONATION - Adults $10.00 , Children 12 & Under, FREE. FREE PARKING.

Enjoy a late summer day with traditional food, crafts, gifts and entertainment representing the five Nordic Cultures as we celebrate the 58th year of Vasa Park in South Elgin, Illinois.  Honor the founders for the vision, labors and resources that built and preserved this beautiful Fox River Valley venue.  Scandinavian Day at Vasa Park is enjoyed by the thousands who return each year to this late summer tradition on the Sunday after Labor Day.  A great day of food, fellowship and fun bringing together friends and family with pride for 30 years.  Select your favorites, and feast on a variety of Scandinavian and American food.  Visit the many craft and gift vendors for that special memory of the five Nordic countries.  Bring the family for a full day of fun and enjoy the tradition of music, dance and a relaxed day in the park.

The details are available at the Scandinavian (VASA) Park Web site.

SKJOLD LODGE HAS A BOOTH AT SCANDINAVIAN DAY:

We also have a membership table.

Following are the details about this year's Skjold Lodge Participation.

Varme Pølse and a bunch of other stuff.

Skjold Lodge will be selling "Pølse in lefse" or “Varme Pølse” (basically a Norwegian hot dog rolled in lefse).  Lots of people also liked the "Sloppy Uff Da burgers" (sloppy joes under another name) so we will have them as well.  Also for sale will be coffee,  soda, water, and baked goods.

Bring your family and friends for a fun day with lots of music, entertainment and good Scandinavian food.  Our initial price list is included in the column to the left.

Members are encouraged to bring baked goods for sale at our booth.
What seems to work best is items wrapped for individual sale.  These do not have to be Norwegian items—chocolate chip cookies sell well.  A good example of something to bring is large cookies wrapped in plastic wrap.

Mark the item with a small label as to what it is: “Chocolate Chip Cookie”, “Brownie”, “Sugar Cookie”, etc.  PRICE ALL ITEMS IN $.50 increments as tickets purchased for food sales are in $.50 increments.

To volunteer to work at our booth or to help set up and take down our food and membership tents, contact Rick Severson and join us for a fun day of working together.

VOLUNTEERS: (Even if you didn't sign up to help - just stop over and volunteer a little of your time.
We need your help both at our food booth and its adjacent membership table.  We'll find something for you to do.

Also the Scandinavian Day staff needs some additional people selling tickets.  They especially need help from 10AM-NOON and NOON-2:00PM.  Stop in and see us - we can tell you how you can help.  - MANGE TAKK!

View some of the fun from prior years at our Photo Gallery's Scandinavian Day section.
