Gene and Tordis were in the Chicago loop just recently to meet with Tordis' daughter and family from Plano, Texas. Their young grandson, Trent, was about to begin his first semester at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and they enjoyed spending some time with the family on this special occasion.
Gene and Tordis returned to Arlington Heights on the Metra train. **************************************************

Mr. President, Fellow Skjold Officers, Members and Friends,
This is difficult to write my last newsletter note and to edit my last Skjold News. I first want to say that I will miss being involved to this extent with the lodge.
Most of you know that my plate is over flowing with commitments to my church, my family and my job. Although my work with everyone at Skjold Lodge has been nothing but enjoyable, it was a time consuming bi-monthly project. For the most part, it was a labor of love.
Please accept my total gratitude to all of you. I always received support and respect from everyone. My fear is that I'll start naming names and I'll forget someone, so I'll leave it at--'you know who you are and tusen takk from the bottom of my heart'. Thank you for the great articles, news, jokes, birthdays and letters..
In closing, I want to wish the next Editor the best of luck and I will try to be as much help as possible to him or her. I hope they enjoy being such a major part of the Skjold Lodge as I did. Who knew that back in 1998 when I was brand new to the lodge and Jostein Bakken approached me to ask if I'd be interested in helping out with the newsletter, it would turn out to be such a wonderful experience, thanks Jostein!
Love,
Krista
