I woke up this morning and looked out the front door to check the temperature. It was 45º. Clearly fall is in the air. For me, fall is the best time of the year with all the beautiful colors. Soon I can put away my golf clubs and take out my skis and get ready for winter.

Now to the business. In November, Skjold Lodge will elect officers for the coming year. Some officers will be new; some, I hope, will stay in the office they have held this year, especially those who have only been in it for one year. A Nominating Committee was elected at our meeting in August to come up with the slate of officers to be nominated in November at the Lodge meeting (November 21st--special date). Nominations from the floor will also be accepted.

For some time, the officers have been looking for a different place for Skjold Lodge to have meetings. Many of our members have made the remark that it is time to find some place else. Therefore, starting January 14, 2004, Skjold Lodge will be holding its meetings at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect.. It is located on Highway 83, two blocks east of Highway 14, across the railroad track. Please read the announcement on page 3 of the newsletter. I believe this move will be an improvement in many ways for the Skjold Lodge and its members. We will have much more room and many improvements.
