Tubfrim--Save some stamps / Help a child

Originally created to help eradicate tuberculosis, the charitable organization Tubfrim now raises money to help handicapped children in Norway.  Over the years it has given the proceeds raised from the sale of cancelled stamps to hundreds of organizations that have helped thousands of children.  Sons of Norway members support Tubfrim by saving and sending cancelled stamps to Tubfrim.  There is a great article in the January 2004 issue of Viking magazine.  Some members have saved almost 100 pounds of stamps and one family set a goal of 200 pounds for 2004.  For Skjold lodge members it is simple.  Just save and give the stamps to Marian Seaholm who will make sure they are consolidated and sent to Tubfrim. This is a great project for your kids and grandkids.  Save your envelopes, with stamps attached, and let them make it a fun project to cut out, bag and save the stamps.  Also a good project for a scout troop.

Golf Update by Jim Severson

Despite rain and very wet course conditions, the annual Skjold Lodge Golf Outing took place as scheduled on Saturday, May 22.  Adverse conditions necessitated changing to a 9 hole format and all the participants had to use a pull cart - not a riding cart.  The turnout of non-golfers who came just for lunch was excellent.  The award ceremony was presided over by Rick and Karen Severson.  Lunch was very good and we certainly appreciated the many assists from the Salt Creek staff.  Thanks to all the participants for their support and patience.
