Our new website went "live" on April 21, 2003. Since then, there have been over 1,100 "official visits" to the site and many more "visits" to individual pages at the site. Here is what we know so far: 1. More people are visiting as time passes. 2. People visit more at the beginning of a month (probably looking for an update). 3. People visit less in June-September. 4. The most popular pages are Cultural Skills, Ja Vi Elsker, Links, Programs and Events, and our Norway pages. Visitors who find us by surfing the web are most typically Google and Yahoo users and are searching on things like "norwegian cooking", norwegian national anthem", "leif erikkson", "ja vi elsker", "sons of norway", "edvard munch", etc. Also people are linking to us from the Sons of Norway head

quarters site and the Norwegian National League site. Many times the "entry page" and the "exit" page are the same, possibly telling us our visitors include non-Skjold Lodge members who have "surfed" in, visit a specific page and then leave. Most of our visitors are from the United States, Canada and Norway which seems to make sense; but we also have visitors from the U.K, Brazil, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Thailand, Italy, Belgium, Australia, Poland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Peru, Qatar, Singapore, Austria, The Philippines, Estonia, Greece, Taiwan, The Russian Federation, Hungary--and this list goes on. Who would have thought?

Driving while drunk cost woman $71,000: OSLO--A wealthy Oslo businesswoman was fined a record $71,000 for driving while drunk. The woman, whose name was withheld in court documents, was arrested in August after she crashed into three parked cars. Police said she had consumed about 11 glasses of wine. The recent court ruling said the woman gave police a false name, punched one officer, and yelled at others. A breath test showed her blood alcohol level was 10 times the legal maximum in Norway. Norwegians convicted of drunken driving usually are fined about a month's salary. Her annual salary was $860,000. - Chicago Tribune--Wednesday July 7, 2004.
