HERE IS HOW THE BENEFIT WORKS: This is a fun event to raise funds to help defer the cost of producing and distributing our newsletter, "Skjold News".

year and donate them to the auction. Items from Norway or with a Norwegian theme are best, but any item is fine. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself, "is this an item I would want myself?" The items should be at least $15 in value.
When you bring the item to the auction, it should be wrapped and indicate WHERE it is from (Norway, Austria, Marshall Field, etc.) but not WHAT is in the package. The wrapping is up to you. Some people put very fancy gifts in a box and then wrap it with plain brown paper. Others use very fancy wrapping. Part of the fun is that you really don't know what you are bidding on--only where it is from and that it is at least worth $15.
We are looking forward to seeing you in September. ************************************************************** October 8. 10 AM - 4 PM - The Norwegian National League is hosting the 2005 Leif Erikson Day celebration at the Des Plaines Library. All provided by the members of local Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, and Icelandic organizations. ************************************************************** October 9.
