|
Sons of Norway District 5, our district, is adopting a new membership incentive plan as part of its efforts to increase lodge membership. The membership incentive, "High Five for District Five", will be retroactive to January 1, 2005, and will continue through March 31, 2006.
Here's how the membership incentive will work:
* Lodges will be split into two categories, large and small. (Skjold fits into the large category).
*Lodges will need to attain a 5% net gain in membership (excluding juvenile members) during this time period. Qualifying lodges will be entered in a drawing for a $500 cash prize for their category.
*Drawings will take place during the Biennial District Meeting in June, 2006.
What does this mean to you as Skjold Lodge members? It means that you need to talk to your friends and relatives and invite them to join the lodge.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS
We also want to welcome two new members to our lodge. These individuals joined our lodge at the Syttende Mai Parade. A hearty Skjold Lodge welcome goes out to Baesley and Kristin Dahlstrom!

zoo, entertainment, and theme. The zoo covers a wide area giving the animals plenty of space and hosts animals common to Scandinavian countries as well as those commonly seen at zoos in our area. The theme park called Kademomme By (Cardamom Town) based on a children's book of the same name, invites guests to meet characters from the book.
Summer here and there…not really so different after all!

Summer in Norway: Swimming and sailing, hiking, biking, camping, enjoying the mountains, soccer, barbeques, theme parks ... ?!
Not far from Olso is a favorite family playground called Tusenfryd*. A smaller version of "Great America", the park boasts such rides as Thundercoaster (a large wooden rollercoaster), Loopen (a steel frame coaster), Supersplash (yes, a water ride!), Japp Space Shot (similar idea to Sky Trek Tower).
