Earn $100 for our lodge!
Over the past couple of years, articles, tips and tools on how to promote your lodge events have been provided in various publications (Viking Resource articles, GFL section on publicity, sample press release, how to create a media list etc.). Now is a great time to take advantage of these resources to help you promote your lodge to the public.

To support your public relations efforts Sons of Norway is launching a contest. The rules are simple: Each time a story runs about your lodge, please submit a copy of the article to Erik Evans at Sons of Norway Headquarters.

For each article submitted your lodge will receive one entry in a drawing to win $100.00. The more articles submitted, the more chances your lodge has to win.

To submit a media clip, please mail a copy of the article (include date it appeared and publication title) and a 3x5 card with your lodge's name, district, lodge number and location (city and state) to Sons of Norway, 1455 W Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55408, Attn: Erik Evans. All entries must be received by May 31, 2006.

Sub-District 5&6 Officers Seminar and Workshop

This annual event will be hosted this year by Cleng Peerson Lodge #525 in Ottawa, Illinois, on Saturday, March 25, 2006.

Each year Sons of Norway officers and members meet to learn more about Sons of Norway and the responsibilities of the various offices through presentations and participation in "break out" sessions with officers having similar responsibilities in other lodges.

This is a must for new lodge officers, but all officers and lodge members are encouraged to attend.  The information shared at the seminar will be invaluable and will give a better understanding of the workings of Sons of Norway.

The registration will probably begin at 9:30A.M. This should allow sufficient time to travel to the meeting place in Ottawa, Illinois.

Gene Kaczmarek, Zone Director

Barnebirkie Over 1,000 children ages 3 to 13 will participate in the 20th Annual Sons of Norway/Swiss Miss Barnebirkie Cross Country ski races held in Hayward, Wisconsin on Thursday, February 23, 2006.  The event will be 1K, 2.5K or 5K in length. Sons of Norway Districts 1 and 5 will be co-sponsoring the event and will supply the cookies for the young skiers. If you wish to donate cookies, place them in non-returnable containers (shoe boxes, etc.) and call Gene Kaczmarek (847) 222-9244 to arrange pickup by mid-February, 2006.  Not a baker--no problem. We accept purchased cookies, too, but the home-made ones are really a hit with the children, the support staff, and all who eat them.
