September 10: 27th Annual Scandinavian Day--Scandinavian Park (Vasa Park), South Elgin, Illinois.  Skjold Lodge will once again have our Pølse/Lefse booth at the Park.  Bring your family and friends for a fun day with lots of music, entertainment and good Scandinavian food.

September 12: Board Meeting. 7:00 pm.

September 22: Skjold News Benefit. 6:30 pm.  No regular lodge meeting on this date.
It's that time of the year when we have the annual buffet and auction to benefit the lodge newsletter.  This event will take place at our new location at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Palatine.  The catered buffet will provide two main entrees and the cost is $8.00 for each member or guest.  Reservations and check payable to "Skjold Lodge" should be received by Tordis and Gene Kaczmarek, 1415 Partridge Lane, Arlington Heights, Illinois, 60004-7439 no later than Thursday, September 14, 2006.  Please call 847-222-9244 to make your reservations.  The buffet begins at 6:30 followed by the auction.
This event has been held for many years and the purpose of the auction is to provide funds to help defray the cost of producing and publishing the lodge newsletter throughout the year.  Members are encouraged to purchase items that are worth at least $15.00  Items should be wrapped and should indicate the place of purchase.  The Skjold News Benefit is a fun evening and we look forward to seeing you on September 22, 2006--Gene & Tordis Kaczmarek.

October 7: The Norwegian National League is once again sponsoring Leif Erikson Fest on Saturday, October 7, 2006 from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM at the Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Avenue - Elmhurst, IL 60126, ph: 630-279-8696.  FREE coffee, snacks, kringle and saft.  A program of music, storytelling and crafts provided by individuals and groups representing five Nordic countries will entertain young and old alike.  Plan to attend this event!
