SOCIAL SNAKK by Lorrie Brenner
God dag! I trust the arrival of your newsletter finds you doing well. Unless otherwise noted, all the following meetings, events and activities take place in the Social Hall at Bethel Lutheran Church. Please keep in mind that men, women and children of all ages are more than welcome - free babysitting is offered at every meeting and event so come one, come all . . . to a spacious facility with a stage and full kitchen at our disposal.
We had a great September and October and are now winding down 2007 with two more months of fun, festive, interesting activities: November 3, 2007 is our Foundation Night Dinner. For just $15 a plate you can help support the continuing scholarships that Sons of Norway offers applicants. The October issue of Viking magazine gives you a good sense of how important these scholarships are. Please attend our dinner and also consider donating to the Foundation. On November 18, 2007, 11:00AM-4:00PM come to the Heritage Fest. This is a great opportunity to get beautiful, unique gifts and decorations for the holidays (see flyer in this issue). November 30, 2007. Let's try it again . . . Runic Lettering Wood Burning ~ because mother nature caused us to cancel our meeting and wood burning event in August we have re-scheduled this for November. Judy Torgersen and I will be bringing wood burners, leather rope and circles of wood to burn your initials or a symbol of your choice into in the ancient Runic writing of our ancestors. On December 15, 2007 from 3PM-5PM, plan to attend our Annual Skjold Yule Party where we will have a "Song Fest and Norwegian Christmas Carols", as well as games, crafts, treats, beverages and . . . most important of all ~ A VISIT FROM SANTA! [Please bring a wrapped gift for each child you bring so that Santa can give it to them when they sit on his lap and get their picture taken.] Again this year this event is free of charge to members and their guests.
Now, about next year . . . Judy Torgersen and I have offered to co-chair as Social Directors. If elected, we need ideas for activities and events that will bring you to the meetings. At each meeting we have a program, usually tied to our Norwegian heritage. We hope you will contribute ideas for events and join us at the ones we have scheduled.
We want all our members to be happy and satisfied with what is going on at the Lodge and in order for that to happen, we really have to hear from you. Anything is possible, so let's get some
