Recently, Chuck Enge experienced two significant Norwegian events, both for pleasure and for business. His first adventure was at the 30th annual Norsk Høstfest in Minot, N.D. staying four days in one of the great "Norwegian" cities of America. The daily events included many musical groups, hundreds of Norwegian cultural displays and lots of food--including lutefisk, meatballs, lefse, and sinful Norwegian pastries. Høstfest also had hundreds of booths with goods for sale. The most emotional event was the concert by Sissel, the vocal superstar, who also sang for the winter Olympics when Chuck and his wife attended in 1994. The second, was a 10-day trip to Norway (the fourth year in a row). A U.S. Professional Tennis Association tennis pro and a high school coach, Chuck was honored to be hired by the Norwegian Tennis Federation (Norges Tennisforbund) to help top players in Norway find colleges/universities in the United States. Chuck gave a seminar on the college search process to parents and the players, and was on the courts at the National Tennis Center for three practices, meeting with the top pros. Four other 2-hour meetings with key organizations were also very successful. Chuck met with The Norwegian-American Association, a clearing house for Norwegian students going to the U.S.; the Association of Norwegian Students Abroad (ANSA), an advisor organization assisting students with the selection process); the US-Norway Fulbright Foundation, directing Norwegian students going to the U.S.; and TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language, at the University of Oslo. TOEFL is required testing for foreign students coming to U.S. In addition to renewing old friendships, his last event was speaking at Oslo Katedralskole (the Cathedral School of Oslo). His Majesty King Harald V, Edvard Munch, and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg have attended this premier school.
Chuck is already planning next year's trip. ***************************************************
