If you are studying Norwegian, a new book by Louis Janus can be helpful.
"Norwegian Verbs & Essentials of Grammar" divides the book into those 2 categories. Under "VERBS" , the book presents many examples of the various verb forms. Since verbs describe actions, learning this section of the book helps you describe what has happened, is happening now, or will happen.
Once you get the basics down, you can make some reasonably good guesses as to what form of the verb to use. Not only are you exposed to new Norwegian verbs you haven't learned before, you see the verbs used in various phrases. If you, like me, know only a few words of Norwegian, it's useful to know a whole series of phrases when you don't fully know how to construct a sentence to convey what you are trying to say.
The second part of the book deals with nouns and all the other parts of speech.
Many Norwegian language books don't do a good job of describing definite and indefinite nouns other than to show you the basics (the boy=definite, a boy = indefinite), etc). This book shows variations and combinations of definite and indefinite in both singular and plural forms. It even includes examples of set phrases with specific meanings (om vinteren = in the winter, til høsten = this fall). There is much more to the book and too little space to describe it here. I should note that there is a section covering rules regarding word order and an appendix that includes commonly used verbs and "Common pitfalls for English Speakers".
While the book is most likely available from several sources, I purchased mine from amazon.com.
