Until We Meet Again, Mange Takk to all!
Yours fraternally, Lorrie Brenner & Judy Torgersen

Velkommen!  Judy and I want to thank everyone who came to our Annual Jul Fest on that treacherously wintery day in December - though Mother Nature made attendance on the low side, those who came had a great time, and "ja, selfølgelig" Santa made a visit bringing gifts for all the happy, surprised children!

As if December's event day wasn't cold and snowy enough, our January meeting was far too chilly to be comfortable.  I apologize that we weren't able to get the thermostat and heating system working well enough to bring in enough heat.  The night included a fantastic smorgasbord of open-faced sandwiches, followed by a short meeting, the Installation of Officers, our raffle and many fun games of Bingo (Uff Da Farkle was deemed by me to be more complicated than I could handle that night!)  We had some very happy raffle winners, and prizes for the Bingo winners filled the room with warm smiles.

Our February meeting was "lefse night" and we missed our own Lillian Berge who was unable to be with us.  Lillian planned on sharing some of her "secrets" she had accumulated after years of lefse making.  With a last minute substitution, we hope you learned more about lefse and enjoyed the treats that evening.  Lillian, we hope you are getting better and look forward to seeing you at a meeting .

At our March 28th meeting, Solveig Bender will present:
GENEALOGY NIGHT!  Please wear a piece of jewelry or any other accessory you have acquired or inherited from your Norwegian relatives.  Refer to the Culture Column on page 4 for further information.  Please plan on attending, and learn how to find and record family history to enjoy for generations to come!

POTLUCK, POPCORN & A MOVIE!!!!  "FINDING THEA" is the Official 2006 Selection of the Port Townsend Film Festival and award winner for Best Local Film 2006 at the Tacoma Film Festival.  A film tribute by Nancy Bourne Haley and Lucy Ostrander to Norwegian immigrant, Thea Christiansen Foss, who became a pioneer archetype for women in the first half of the twentieth century.  In 1931, Thea was the inspiration for a fictional character in Norman Reilly Raine's famed "Tugboat Annie" stories published in the Saturday Evening Post and lead to three Hollywood motion pictures and a 1950s television series!!
